Research:
Optical-based sensing has proven to a better technique for sensing because of its high sensitivity and selectivity. The high selectivity is due to rot-vibration based absorption. In this research, we explore techniques to enhance the sensitivity of integrated sensor platform by developing high-field interaction slot waveguides and their suitable coupling mechanism. To further exploit absorption based spectroscopy, we plan to develop integrated spectrometer suitable for sensing various gases on a single circuit. This includes development of material platforms such as Si, SiN and Ge that are transparent in the Mid-IR wavelength regime.
